A Nanny is...

For membership purposes, "Nanny" is defined as a childcare professional who provides regular scheduled care for a child/children in that child/childrens home. Au pairs are included in this definition as well as overseas live in or live out caregivers. Occasional babysitters, childcare center workers, and those who care for children out of their own home do not meet this criteria. We recognize the importance of, and highly respect ALL quality childcare providers, but we seek to meet the uniwue and specific needs of nannies.


Kitchener - Waterloo Area Nanny Association

Welcome to KWANA the Kitchener - Waterloo Area Nanny Association, based in Ontario Canada. We are a group run for nannies by nannies. We are dedicated to maintaining an excellent standard of professional practices, as well as providing support to new and experienced nannies. We also strive to inform others of the unique and valuable role nannies play in the lives of their work families. We have a small online community to connect, to provide and recieve support, help and advice from other nannies, the only ones who can truly understand the challenges of our jobs. We offer opportunity to network and share ideas, tips and tricks, outings for nannies only as well as group trips for nannies and the children in their care. We have regularly scheduled playgroups, professional development opportunities, and FUN! Spring is in the air!

Well Spring is in the air, we hope! We have had a great winter so far, but I think we all agree it's time to move on. the KWANA Christmas party back in December was a sucess. We also held a Valentines party in February where the kids exchanged Valentines and decorated Cupcakes.

Next up will be the Easter Party. We will be decorating eggs and having an easter egg hunt! Stay tuned for the date. Nanny Dinner will be at Kelseys this month Date TBA

Halloween Party was a sucess!!

Our Halloween Party at Busy Bees Indoor Playground was a huge sucess!!! The kids all had a blast.
Our October Nanny of the Month dinner, was an italian potluck, thanks Christine for hosting!!! November will be a dinner out and stay tuned for a christmas get together in December.

Coming Soon June 30 SPLASH into Summer Playdate

On June 30, 2010 we will be having our first full group playdate, I hope everyone can come! Be sure to bring lots of sunscreen and your bathing suits we will have lots of water activities as well as bubbles, chalk, skipping, beach balls, a craft and possible trip to the local park. We will be having watermellon and apples for snack. We will have hot dogs, juice/water and veggies for lunch with a popsicle after. I hope everyone can make it, we'd love to meet our new nannies.
